Dear Friends of DADs, I am a new member of the organization and a relatively new
parent. My son Chase was born back in July with Down Syndrome and it has changed
my life. At first we were devastated, not knowing what to expect. However, as each
day went by, we became increasingly excited and accepting of his differences. On the
day Chase was born, we were prepared and madly in love with this little bundle of
joy. To us, he is perfect.
We hope you can join us for our first annual golf tournament on Monday, August 30, 2010 at Easton Country Club (Easton, MA). As indicated on the registration form, you can sign up as an individual ($125/golfer) or as a foursome ($500/foursome). It's a scramble format, so you'll play each person's best ball (and you most likely won't have to worry about hitting out of the woods!).
Last Sunday, June 6, 30 families braved the dire weather report and joined DADS at Kimbal Farm in Westford. Despite the ugly weather forcasts, we were spared any rain until after ice cream was served. Everyone I spoke with appeared to have a great time and we were able to meet some new friends.
Each spring, the MDSC hosts its Annual Conference, one of the largest statewide events on Down syndrome in the nation. More than 500 parents, educators, self-advocates and brothers and sisters gather to hear some of the nation's leading experts on Down syndrome.
